The body of an unidentified man was found in a Hawaiian Ocean View Estates structure late Monday evening.

Lt. Gerry Wike, of the Area II Criminal Investigations Section, said an autopsy had been ordered for today to determine the man’s cause of death.

Firefighters found the body in a house that burned down. Firefighters responded to a 9 p.m. call of a 500-square-foot house on Bamboo Lane on fire.

They had the blaze extinguished at about 12:15 a.m.

Police officers secured the scene after the fire was extinguished.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Wike said he had no additional details to release about the investigation.

No one had been reported missing in the Ocean View area who might be the man who was found, he said.

Hawaii County property tax records do not indicate any home on the property.

A phone number for the property’s owner could not be located.

Police ask anyone with information about this case to contact Detective Sean Smith at 326-4646, ext. 262, or ssmith@co.hawaii.hi.us.
